Yogi Cabinet approved Lucknow Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor project. Internship allowance of veterinary students was increased from Rs 4 thousand to Rs 12 thousand. Besides, the establishment of Sardar Patel Apex University in Mirzapur was also approved.

Lucknow. A major decision was taken for the Lucknow Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor project in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Cabinet has approved the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of India, the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. This project will be developed from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj.

Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the detailed project report (DPR) of this project had already been approved. Now it has been agreed to implement this project at a cost of Rs 5801.05 crore. The share of central and state government in the cost of the project will be equal i.e. 50-50 percent.

This new East-West corridor of Lucknow Metro will further strengthen public transport in the capital. With its launch, the people of the city will be able to get fast, safe and modern transportation facilities. The government believes that this will reduce traffic pressure and make people’s travel more convenient.

It is noteworthy that the DPR of this project was approved in the cabinet meeting on March 5, 2024. After this, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India gave final approval to this project costing Rs 5801.05 crore on 3 September 2025. The Central Government had placed a condition in its approval that a tripartite MOU would be signed between the Central, State Government and Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited for the operation and implementation of the project.

The MoU draft prepared after investigation and necessary amendments by the Justice Department has now been formally approved by the Yogi Cabinet. The Cabinet decision also clearly sets out the responsibilities and obligations of the state government.

Veterinary Students Internship Stipend: Internship allowance of veterinary students increased to Rs 12 thousand

Veterinary students got a big relief decision in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The government has approved the proposal to increase the monthly allowance during internship from Rs 4,000 to Rs 12,000 per month.

Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh said that due to the large number of livestock in Uttar Pradesh, the role of veterinarians is very important. The need for trained veterinarians in tasks such as animal health protection, epidemic control and breed improvement is continuously increasing.

300 students of three universities will benefit

Students studying in three major agricultural and veterinary universities of the state will benefit from this decision of the government. These include Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Sciences University and Cow Research Institute, Acharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology.

According to the government, currently students were being given internship allowance of Rs 4,000 per month, which has now been increased three times to Rs 12,000. About 300 students will directly benefit from this decision.

Decision taken after studying other states

Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh said that this decision has been taken after studying the internship allowance being given in states like Haryana, Karnataka and Kerala. The implementation of this scheme will impose an additional financial burden of approximately Rs 4.20 crore on the government. This amount will be made available from the government grant for non-salary items given to universities. The government says that this will boost the morale of the students, strengthen their interest towards studies and training and will also promote the principle of equality.

Mirzapur Private University: Approval to open Sardar Patel Apex University in Mirzapur

Another important decision related to higher education sector was taken in the cabinet meeting of Yogi government. The proposal to issue a letter of intent to its sponsoring institution for the establishment of “Sardar Patel Apex University, Mirzapur” under the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act 2019 was approved.

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that Varanasi-based Apex Welfare Trust, which is currently running big hospitals, is now entering the education sector as well. The Trust had proposed to the government to establish a private university in Mirzapur, all the formalities for which have been completed.

University will be built in Samaspur village of Chunar tehsil

According to the proposal, this university will be established on about 50.45 acres of land in Samaspur village of Chunar tehsil of Mirzapur district. The government believes that this will create new opportunities for higher education in rural areas and will also give impetus to local development.

The scope of higher education is increasing rapidly in UP

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the number of higher education institutions in the state has increased rapidly. He said that till the year 2017, there were only 14 government universities in the state, whereas after that eight new government universities have been established.

Similarly, the number of private universities, which remained stable at 29 for a long time, has now increased to 52. Apart from this, letter of intent has also been issued to eight other institutions.
