Politics has heated up regarding the by-elections being held on 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. Now the election campaign has also stopped on all the seats. On the last day of the election campaign, Samajwadi Party has written a letter to the Election Commission making several demands. The party asked the Election Commission to establish such a system so that no policeman checks the ID of any voter on the day of voting.
In a letter to the Election Commission, Samajwadi Party said that no one should check the identity card of any voter at the booth except the polling officer. Along with this, the paragraph of Handbook for Returning Officer has also been mentioned. SP has alleged that Muslim women were intimidated at many polling booths during the Lok Sabha elections.
Demand for certified copy of where and how many votes were cast
Apart from this, Samajwadi Party has demanded that after the voting on 9 seats is over, a certified copy of the information about total votes cast by the voters should be provided to the agent. This letter has been written to the Election Commission on behalf of SP State President Shyam Pal Pal.
In fact, even in the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party had alleged irregularities in many polling booths. However, the EC responded and resolved all the complaints lodged by political parties with the Election Commission one by one.
Now that assembly elections are being held in the state, Samajwadi Party has once again reiterated some old issues and has written a letter demanding action from the Election Commission. However, the Election Commission has already said that it takes automatic steps wherever necessary to maintain a level playing field. While announcing the election date, the Chief Election Commissioner of the country had made the situation clear regarding many things.
Earlier voting was to be held on 13th November
The 9 assembly seats on which by-elections are being held in UP include Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan, Khair, Mirapur, Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki seats. Earlier, elections were to be held on these seats on October 13, but due to the festival, the Election Commission had postponed the voting date. Their results will be revealed on November 23 along with the Maharashtra-Jharkhand assembly elections.
