The girl, resident of Badhalganj, Gorakhpur, was married about three years ago. It is alleged that the in-laws used to harass her for dowry. When the demand of Rs 500,000 cash and car was not met, he burnt it with boiling oil. Not only this, instead of getting treatment, he was beaten and thrown out of the house.
The wedding took place in 2021
The victim Nausheen Khatoon, resident of Badhalganj, told the police that her marriage was done by her father with great pomp in the year 2021. To the best of my ability, I fulfilled every demand of my in-laws. Adequate dowry was also given. When I went to my in-laws’ house, initially everything was good. Everyone’s behavior was fine. After this, my husband took me with his family to Mumbai.
The victim says that after going there, her in-laws became greedy and started demanding dowry. People said that since your father has given so much at the time of marriage, then this new demand which we are making should also be fulfilled by asking him to do so. When I refused, they started beating me every day. Fed up with the daily harassment, I told my father about the demands of my in-laws.
Demand for four wheeler
According to the victim, when her father called her in-laws and asked, they told her to give them Rs 500,000 and a four wheeler. All this is necessary for your daughter’s happy life. In such a situation, the father expressed his inability to fulfill all the demands and sent ₹ 200,000 to his in-laws, but people were not satisfied. Even after getting Rs 200,000, they used to harass me every day. One day my husband became so angry over money and car that he caught hold of my hand and put it in boiling oil. Not only this, they beat me and when their demand for dowry was not met, they threw me out of the house.
The woman told the police that she came to her parents’ home and told everything to her father. The father had earlier also explained to the in-laws by giving them money, but to no avail. In such a situation, I decided to complain to the police. In this case, based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case of dowry harassment and beating against her husband Aamir Hussain, father-in-law Sagir Ahmed, mother-in-law Zubaida, brother-in-law Fardeen Shaikh and sister-in-law Asna. In this regard, SP South Jitendra Kumar said that according to the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against the in-laws. Badhalganj police is investigating the case. Soon a police team will leave for Mumbai to arrest the accused.
