A provision of Rs 32,090 crore has been made in the UP Budget 2026-27 to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system. Swachh Bharat Mission, digital library, rural stadium and Panchayat buildings will lead to overall development of villages.
Lucknow. In the budget for the financial year 2026-27, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a big financial provision to strengthen the village government i.e. Panchayati Raj system. Its objective is to directly improve the standard of rural living.
A provision of about Rs 32,090 crore has been proposed for schemes related to Panchayati Raj, which is 67 percent more than the previous financial year 2025-26. This increase reflects the rapid expansion of infrastructure and facilities in villages.
Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin will strengthen sanitation infrastructure
A provision of Rs 2,823 crore has been made in the budget for Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) – Phase II. With this amount, the sanitation infrastructure in the villages will be further strengthened, which will promote cleanliness, waste management and clean environment.
Rural youth will get modern study opportunities through digital library.
To increase digital empowerment in rural areas, digital libraries will be established at Gram Panchayat and ward level. A provision of Rs 454 crore has been made for this. With this initiative, rural youth and students will get access to modern studies and digital resources in the village itself.
Sports culture will increase with rural stadium and open gym.
A provision of Rs 130 crore has been made in the budget to encourage sports and fitness in villages. With this amount, rural stadiums and open gyms will be constructed, which will develop sports culture among the youth.
Construction of 1000 multipurpose Panchayat buildings and Panchayat Utsav buildings.
A provision of about Rs 57 crore has been made for the construction of 1000 multipurpose Panchayat buildings in the financial year 2026-27. Along with this, a provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for the construction of Panchayat Utsav Bhawan/Barat Ghar in the rural area of every assembly. This will provide better space to social and community activities in the villages.
Self-reliant Panchayats will strengthen rural development
The aim of the Yogi government is to develop Gram Panchayats as self-reliant units by giving them resources, strong structure and powers. This budget will create a strong foundation for rural development by empowering the Panchayats.
