The case of BJP Nagar Panchayat President holding two journalists hostage, stripping them and beating them in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh is now gaining momentum. Many journalist organizations have opened a front condemning the incident. Besides, Samajwadi Party has also started cornering the government through its Twitter account while doing politics in the matter. SP has cornered Yago government in the name of law and order. In this case, the police registered a case against the accused.
The matter pertains to Sarila Nagar Panchayat of Jaria police station area of Hamirpur district. Where Nagar Panchayat President Pawan Anuragi called two journalists of the town to his house on the pretext of meeting them and took them hostage. With the help of his henchmen, the BJP leader stripped both the journalists and got them beaten. A video of the fight was made and shared on social media. When the BJP Nagar Panchayat President was not satisfied, he used his position and filed a case against both the journalists under the SC-ST Act.
Accused of giving urine
Sarila residents Amit Dwivedi and Shailendra Mishra were called to their home by Sarila Nagar Panchayat President Pawan Anuragi with the help of one of his babu. In which there was talk of compromise between the Speaker and the journalists. When the journalists reached his house, the Chairman, with the help of his henchmen, first forced them to drink liquor and then stripped them and got them beaten severely. A video of the beating was also made and made viral on social media. According to the victim journalist Amit, he was forcibly taken hostage, beaten and also made to drink urine.
Police busy searching for the accused
When the case of beating and holding journalists hostage came to notice, the police registered a case against 6 people including the Nagar Panchayat President on the complaint of the victimized journalists. The police put the matter on hold and registered a case against the journalists under pressure from the Nagar Panchayat President. When the case came under pressure from journalist organizations and tweets by the Samajwadi Party, the police arrested an accused. Additional SP Manoj Gupta said that the main accused is still away from the police. While one accused has been arrested by the police.
