A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Setha village of Kaptanganj police station area of Basti district. It is alleged that due to a land dispute, two brothers together burnt their mother and sister to death, out of which one son is a relative of the deceased and the other is her step-brother. Two brothers, blinded by the greed for land, brutally murdered their relatives. After the information, the police reached the spot, recovered both the burnt bodies from inside the house and sent them for post-mortem. After getting information about the incident, SP Gopal Krishna Choudhary and the forensic team also inspected the spot.
According to the information, the deceased’s husband had already died of cancer. Before his death, he had bequeathed some land in the name of his second wife and daughter and the remaining land in the name of his two sons. After the death of the father, when both the sons came to know about it, they opposed it and started pressurizing them to transfer the land in their name, after which a case of land dispute was registered and the hearing in it was going on.

The deceased mother and daughter were to testify in the trial on 5 December. A day before that, his burnt body was recovered from the room of the house. The deceased’s second daughter and son-in-law accused the deceased’s two sons and a neighbor of murder and burning the body.
