Pusha Dev is described in Rigveda
The first description of Pusha Dev is found in Rigveda. According to Vedic beliefs, they were considered protectors of travelers. It was believed that people who set out on long journeys used to worship Pusha Dev for safe travel. There is also a belief that Pusha Dev only shows the right path to the lost people and protects them from the obstacles that come during the journey.

Bring brides safely to their homes
Pusha is also mentioned in Vedic marriage mantras. It was believed that they helped the bride reach her new home safely. It is also believed that Pusha Dev was prayed to to find a lost object or animal.
Pusha Dev also protects animals
Pusha is also considered the protector of animals. In ancient times when people’s livelihood depended on farming and animal husbandry, people used to worship him for the protection of their livestock. Unlike other gods, Pusha’s chariot was pulled not by horses but by goats. This is considered to be his most unique identity.
Virbhadra had broken his teeth
According to the story of Shiva Purana, when Veerbhadra destroyed Daksh’s yagya due to the anger of Lord Shiva, Pusha was also there. Pusha was laughing after seeing Shiva being insulted, so Veerbhadra broke his teeth. For this reason they consume only soft food. Even though Pusha’s name is used less today, his importance is considered very special in the Vedic tradition.
