Unique engagement! Instead of a ring, the couple wore a helmet to each other as a sign of engagement.

A unique case has come to light from Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Although there is a custom of wearing a ring during the engagement ceremony, but a unique engagement took place in Dongargarh of Jarwahi tehsil. In the engagement ceremony, the girl and the boy completed the ritual by wearing helmets to each other. This engagement is being discussed in the entire area. According to the information, the young man and the girl have tried to make people aware to avoid road accidents by giving helmets to each other during their engagement.

Birendra Sahu, resident of Dongargarh of Jarwahi tehsil, is posted as Secretary in Gram Panchayat Bhanpuri. Birendra’s engagement was fixed with Jyoti Sahu, a resident of Dongargaon Kariatola, and the young man and the girl made a unique engagement by giving each other a ring as well as a helmet. Also worked to make people aware to prevent accidents happening on the roads.

People do social service in different ways

To prevent road accidents, youth are seen trying to make the society aware in different ways. Some place radium points on the roads, some remove animals from the roads, some social workers provide free ambulance service, some provide free medicines. Rajnandgaon has a distinct identity in blood donation.

Doing this work after father’s death

Birendra Sahu is the younger brother of Helmet Sangwari Dharmendra Sahu, a social worker of Dongargaon Nagar, who, after his father’s death in a road accident, has been making people aware about wearing helmets on the roads and also giving them helmets. Dharmendra Sahu told that father died due to head injury and at that time father was not wearing a helmet. Since then he has been working to make people wear helmets and donate helmets. He told that along with me, my entire family including wife Triveni, brother Mohit Sahu, daughter-in-law Sarita, brother Birendra and mother Kumari Sahu are also helping in motivating people.

Dharmendra Sahu told that till now he has donated more than 1 thousand helmets to the people. He also told that media colleagues have named the helmet as Sangwari. Besides, people along with the administration are appreciating his initiative.
