Some senior leaders have expressed concern over Andy Burnham’s stance on EU-related issues, which could give additional political leverage to Shabana Mahmood. Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester and recently returned to Parliament after winning the Makerfield by-election, is being counted among the strongest contenders.
