Author and entrepreneur Twinkle Khanna has opened up about a phase in her life when she was comfortable staying away from the limelight, saying her best friend encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone.
The former actress took to Instagram to reflect on how her outlook has changed over the years, sharing photos from a party with her friends and recalling how she preferred to maintain a low profile during her thirties.
Sharing the pictures, Twinkle wrote, “Before the party and then somewhere in the middle of it:) In my thirties, I was fine staying out of the limelight. My bestie @anudewan5 pushed me to stop hiding, do covers and get out there.”
She added that her friend now sometimes encourages her to stay out late and enjoy herself, despite her preference for an early night.
“These days she sometimes forces me to stay out late and let my hair loose, which if I am honest, is what I need since I want to go to bed at nine-thirty. Best friends push you to be your best self, to shine, or in my case, twinkle:) What has your bestie made you do?,” she wrote.
In the images, Twinkle can be seen posing with her friends at the party.
The ‘Mela’ and ‘Barsaat’ actress remains active on social media, where she frequently shares candid moments from her life along with her trademark humour and observations.
A few days ago, she offered a humorous take on fashion and changing bodies, writing that while she had previously titled a book ‘Pyjamas Are Forgiving’, she had come to realise that the sari was “truly forgiving”. She joked that jeans, by comparison, “really know how to hold a grudge”.
After stepping away from acting, Twinkle established herself as an author. She made her literary debut in 2015 with the non-fiction book ‘Mrs Funnybones’, followed by ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’, a collection of short stories.
