Actress Soha Ali Khan remembered her late father and former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi on his 15th death anniversary, sharing an emotional social media post that also featured a handwritten note from her daughter, Inaaya.
Soha shared a photograph of herself sitting in front of her father’s portrait, followed by a picture of Inaaya folding her hands before her grandfather’s photograph.
Inaaya also penned a heartfelt letter addressed to her late grandfather, whom she referred to as “Sarkar Abba”.
In the note, Inaaya expressed her wish to one day see her grandfather’s spirit and gratitude for being part of his family. She also complimented him on his cricketing achievements and his daughter.
Sharing the photographs, Soha wrote about her memories of her father and the passage of time since his death.
“My Abba 
15 years without you. Sometimes I wonder if I’m imagining my memories of you. But perhaps that is what memory is — love, recreating what it cannot bear to lose,” she wrote.
Soha has frequently remembered her father through social media posts and personal tributes.
On his birth anniversary in January, she visited Eden Gardens in Kolkata, a venue closely associated with Pataudi’s cricketing career.
Sharing photographs from the visit, Soha wrote, “On your birthday, Abba, I wanted to stand where the game remembers you. Eden Gardens may be empty today, but it is never silent for you.”
She also recalled one of Pataudi’s notable performances at the venue, when he led India against the West Indies in a Test despite suffering a fractured cheekbone.
According to Soha, a delivery from West Indies fast bowler Andy Roberts struck Pataudi in the face during the December 1974 Test, leaving him with a fractured cheekbone. He initially left the field bleeding and injured but returned to captain the team as India secured an 85-run victory.
Describing the match as one of Indian cricket’s iconic victories, Soha said it remained an example of her father’s determination and leadership.
Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who served as India’s Test captain, died in September 2011.
