Author and former actress Twinkle Khanna shared a playful glimpse of her bond with her pet dog, Mr Jeeves, revealing how he reacted after seeing her pack for a trip.
Sharing pictures with her pet on Instagram, Twinkle said Mr Jeeves appeared visibly upset as she prepared to leave. She described him as looking “despondent”, with a drooping tail and sad eyes.
Twinkle joked that she felt equally reluctant about flying away, even if only for a day. However, she added that her emotions were less obvious because of her naturally drooping eyes and the fact that she has a tailbone rather than a tail.
The author then revealed how Mr Jeeves appeared to express his displeasure.
“He jumped all over me, stole one sock and ran off with it before I could catch him. So if you see me sans socks, it’s not style. It’s Mr Jeeves. Does your pet punish you for leaving?” she wrote.
In the photographs, Twinkle is seen sitting on a couch with Mr Jeeves before lovingly holding him in her arms.
Mr Jeeves is the pet dog of Twinkle and her husband, actor Akshay Kumar, and frequently features in Twinkle’s social media posts. Affectionately known as “Jivdya” or “Jeevan”, he is often seen in her posts showcasing his playful antics and expressive personality.
Twinkle, who moved away from acting, went on to establish herself as an author. She made her literary debut with the 2015 non-fiction book Mrs Funnybones, followed by The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, a collection of short stories.
Her third book, Pyjamas Are Forgiving, was the highest-selling book by a female author in India in 2018, according to Nielsen BookScan India. She subsequently published Welcome to Paradise in 2023.
