Harry Kane has revealed his special connection with fans in India, with the Bayern Munich and England striker admitting that his love for the Indian Premier League has helped strengthen the bond.
In an exclusive conversation with NDTV during its trip to Germany, Kane also discussed his Ballon d’Or ambitions, Bayern Munich’s Champions League target and his pick to win Europe’s biggest club competition.
Kane has emerged as one of the leading names in the Ballon d’Or conversation after a remarkable campaign, while his performances for England also helped the team reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals.
Harry Kane Reveals His India Connection
Speaking exclusively to NDTV in Germany, Kane thanked his Indian supporters and said he hopes to visit the country in the future.
The Bayern Munich striker also revealed that his interest in the IPL has played a role in his connection with Indian fans.
“I think I have a special relationship with the fans in India. I appreciate all their support. Would love to go out there one day. They know I’m a big IPL fan as well.”
Kane added that he appreciates the support he receives from fans around the world, but singled out India as a place where he has developed a particularly strong following.
The comments offer an insight into the footballer’s growing popularity among Indian sports fans, where the IPL remains one of the country’s biggest sporting competitions.
Kane Focused On Bayern Munich, Not Ballon d’Or
Despite the growing Ballon d’Or buzz around him, Kane insisted that his focus remains on winning trophies with Bayern Munich.
The striker said the Champions League remains the club’s biggest objective after Bayern came close to reaching the final last season.
Kane also stressed that the new season represents a fresh challenge, with Bayern aiming to compete for all four trophies available to them.
He described last season as an outstanding campaign on both a personal and team level, although the club fell short of winning the Champions League.
Harry Kane Names Champions League Favourites
With the 2026-27 Champions League campaign approaching, Kane was also asked which team he believes will start as the favourite.
The England captain pointed to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain after their recent success, while also naming Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona among the leading contenders.
“I think PSG will be favourites, obviously winning it back-to-back.”
Kane, however, warned that the Champions League is a long campaign and said Bayern must focus on improving from the beginning rather than dwelling on last season’s results.
He recalled Bayern’s narrow defeat to PSG last season and said the team must use that experience as motivation for another deep run.
Kane’s Ballon d’Or Case Gathers Momentum
Kane’s Ballon d’Or hopes come as he looks to end Bayern Munich’s long wait for the prestigious individual award.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was the last Bayern player to win the Ballon d’Or, claiming the award in 1980 and 1981. Since then, players such as Franck Ribery and Robert Lewandowski have come close without winning it.
Kane is now being discussed alongside some of the biggest names in world football, including Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Rodri and Lionel Messi.
However, the striker remains focused on collective success rather than individual recognition.
For Indian fans, Kane’s latest comments provide another reason to follow his season closely. The Bayern star has made no secret of his interest in the IPL, and his message to Indian supporters could make his already strong following in the country even bigger.
