After becoming President, Trump made his tariff threat to come true and announced tariffs on countries around the world. But now it seems that his bets are going to be heavy on him too. America has suffered a major setback due to Donald Trump’s new import tariff policy. In fact, one of India’s largest auto companies, Tata Motors’ luxury car subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has currently stopped supply of Jaguar and Land Rover cars to America to America.

The Tata Motors -owned unit Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has stopped export of vehicles to the US from its manufacturing plants in the UK keeping in mind the change in fee structure. A spokesperson of JLR making luxury vehicle gave this information in a statement. The company spokesperson said, ‘America is an important market for Luxury brands of JLR. We are working towards new business conditions with our business partners. We are implementing our short -term actions, including stopping export consignment in April. We are making plans ranging from our mid -term to long -term.
The decision to impose a 25 percent fee of Trump administration on imported cars has come into effect from April 3. Earlier, JLR had said that its luxury brands have a global appeal and their business is used to facing the changing market situations.
America is a big market
The Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand has a deep presence in the American market. In FY 2024, about 23 percent out of more than four lakh units of JLR were sold in the US market. All these vehicles were exported from its British plant. Tata Motors acquired JLR from Ford Motor in 2008.
