Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar was found dead inside his office at the state police headquarters in Agartala on Monday, July 20. He was a 1994 batch IPS officer. This news created panic in the entire police department. As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers reached the spot. According to initial information, police suspect that it could be a case of suicide. However, the authorities have not yet confirmed the actual cause of death and the matter is under investigation.

Taken to hospital, doctors declared him dead
NDTV quoted sources as saying that Dhankar was found injured by a bullet in his office. It is suspected that he may have used his service pistol, although officials have not yet officially confirmed this. He was immediately taken to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital in Agartala, where doctors declared him brought dead. Forensic team and senior police officers have started inspecting the incident site as part of the investigation.

He worked on many important positions in his career. His sudden death has shocked his colleagues and officers and condolence messages are coming from the entire police department.
