Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Jammu on Sunday evening as part of his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and held a meeting with BJP MLAs and officials in a closed room. This is his first visit after the formation of the National Conference government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Union Territory in October last year. This tour is also important in view of the ongoing anti -terrorism campaign in Kathua district.
The meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah ended at Jammu BJP headquarters. He will visit the India Pak International Board of BOP Kathua today and will take stock of the ground situation there. After this, he will meet the families of the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Raj Bhavan of Jammu and will also hand over the appointment letters to some soldiers selected on compassionate grounds.
Meeting with legislators and officials
In fact, Amit Shah arrived at the airport in Jammu at around 6.50 pm on Sunday evening, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Unit President Sat Sharma and the party’s Jammu and Kashmir in-charge National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and other BJP leaders welcomed him.
Former BJP chief of Jammu and Kashmir Ravindra Raina and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavindra Gupta and Nirmal Singh were also present. Officials said that immediately after the arrival, Amit Shah was taken to Raj Bhavan and later went to the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar and presided over the meeting of party MLAs and other officials.
Safety Status and Development Review
The meeting started at around 8.30 pm and lasted for about two hours. During his visit, the Union Home Minister will visit the advance post on the India-Pakistan border and review the security and development initiatives. Amit Shah’s visit to the BJP headquarters took place at a time when the party’s foundation day is being celebrated. BJP workers and leaders are celebrating Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at the headquarters.
Security force on high alert
Officials said that police and security forces have been kept on high alert in view of Amit Shah’s visit. He will visit the Border Security Force (BSF) border post Vinay in Kathua today and will take stock of the ground situation there. After stopping a group of five terrorists who infiltrated the international border in Hiranagar sector by police and other security forces, a large -scale search operation is going on in the forest area of Kathua district from March 23.
A fierce encounter lasted for two days
Four policemen and two terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter for two days on March 27 in the district. Later, he will meet family members of the martyrs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Raj Bhavan in Jammu and will also provide appointment letters to some selected people on compassionate grounds.
April 8 program
The Union Home Minister will first take stock of various development works in the Union Territory in the meeting held at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on April 8. Officials said that after this he will attend another meeting at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar where security situation in Jammu and Kashmir will be reviewed.
Earlier in the day, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh BJP President Sat Sharma hoisted the BJP flag at the party headquarters in the presence of senior party leaders including MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
