Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 18 years of successful run on television. In the last few years, several actors have left the television show, and new faces have joined the cast. Bhavya Gandhi was associated with this sitcom since its inception. The actor played the role of Tipendra Jethalal Gada aka Tapu. After nine years on the show, Bhavya quit TMKOC in 2017. Back then, rumours were rife that the actor left the show because of his differences with the production house and his character not working well. Now, in an exclusive interview with Zoom/ TellyTalk, Bhavya revealed the ‘major reason’ he quit the sitcom.

Speaking exclusively to us, said in Hindi, “There were two things. First, we wanted this character of Tapu to look better. Just because we started ageing and growing a beard… it was like we were trying to hide those things that we have grown up.” Watch the full interview below:
The Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor recalled that they had only one request. Since the actors were growing up and so was the show’s audience, Bhavya added they wanted the makers to focus on real modern problems related to college and students. They left that it would ‘grab attention’.
However, Asit Kumarr Modi stated that it would take some time to take those things into consideration. “Sir said, ‘We will think about this, but not right now. We won’t be able to think right now. It will take like two-three years of time to take all these things under consideration’. That’s when we thought we want to do something else,” recalled Bhavya.

The actor admitted that actors got a lot of love because of the show; however, they wanted to grow as actors and humans. “At some age, we have to decide to take care of our future journey and to take care of our growth. That was the major reason. We wanted to take care of our growth,” he added in Hindi.
