Skoda Slavia facelift to Ather EV scooter: New vehicles coming in August

August is shaping up to be a busy month for the Indian automobile market, with several manufacturers preparing to introduce new vehicles. From updated versions of popular models to all-new launches, buyers can expect a mix of updates across several upcoming models. Here’s a look at some of the key vehicle launches expected next month.

Skoda Slavia Facelift

Skoda is set to introduce the Slavia facelift in India on August 18. The updated sedan is expected to receive minor cosmetic revisions, additional features and a new automatic transmission option for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the existing engine range is likely to remain unchanged. Currently available at an ex-showroom price of ₹10 lakh to ₹18.19 lakh, the Slavia is likely to become slightly more expensive with the facelift.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift

Mahindra is expected to unveil the Scorpio-N facelift around Independence Day, with a debut likely on August 14 or 15. While the exterior is expected to receive minor styling updates such as a revised grille, updated bumpers and new alloy wheels, the cabin could see more significant changes, including the addition of a panoramic sunroof on higher variants.

Kia Sorento

Kia has teased its upcoming Sorento SUV, which has already been spotted testing in India. Although the company has not announced an official launch date, the SUV is expected to arrive in late August or early September via the CKD route. The Sorento is likely to carry an ex-showroom price of around ₹45 lakh, while unofficial bookings have reportedly already begun.

MG Hector Hawk

MG is likely to launch a new premium SUV, expected to be called the Hector Hawk, in August. Based on the Wuling Starlight 560, the SUV is expected to be built on MG’s new ADAPT platform. It will be offered with electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads.

Yamaha YZF R2

Yamaha is gearing up to launch the YZF R2 on August 27 in Chennai. The Yamaha YZF R2 is expected to sit above the YZF R15 as a more performance-oriented offering. Although Yamaha has not disclosed its specifications yet, the motorcycle is likely to come with a larger engine and a significant increase in power. While the YZF R15 generates 18.4 bhp and 14.5 Nm of torque, the upcoming R2 is expected to produce around 25 bhp and 20 Nm. It is expected to be priced between ₹2 lakh and ₹2.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ather EL Electric Scooter

Ather Energy will unveil its first production electric scooter based on the all-new EL platform during Community Day 2026, scheduled for August 29. The scooter is expected to retain much of the design seen on the EL01 concept, including a handlebar-mounted headlamp and a wide LED DRL. The upcoming scooter is expected to be Ather’s most affordable model yet, with an estimated ex-showroom price of ₹1 lakh to ₹1.25 lakh.
