He said that Yusuf Pathan has played cricket for India and the people of his area have made him win with an overwhelming majority, hence he should show courage and respect the trust of his voters. Mahua also gave a strong reaction against the rebel MPs. He said that all these MPs had reached Parliament after winning the 2024 elections on TMC ticket. The public had chosen him not as a candidate for NDA, but as a TMC candidate. He said that if they want to support BJP then first resign from the post of MP and then prove their popularity by contesting elections on BJP ticket.
Demand to make Kakoli Ghosh the leader in place of Abhishek Banerjee
According to media reports, a group of rebel MPs want to make Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar the leader of the TMC parliamentary party in place of Abhishek Banerjee in the Lok Sabha. Sources claim that five rebel TMC MPs were present at the residence of Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav since Monday morning. These included MP Sharmila Sarkar from Burdwan East, Prasun Banerjee from Howrah, Jagdish Basunia from Cooch Behar, Kalipadh Soren from Jhargram and Arup Chakraborty from Bankura.
Rebel MPs also met Shubhendu Adhikari
In the afternoon, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Subhendu Adhikari also reached Bhupendra Yadav’s residence. According to sources, a total of 14 TMC MPs from Lok Sabha met Subhendu Adhikari. It is being told that at around 2 pm, Shubhendu came out of Adhikari Bhupendra Yadav’s house.
