Two conditions for TMC’s merger
According to media reports, Mamta faction has put two conditions behind the merger of TMC with Congress. Firstly, Mamata Banerjee got the post of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. The second condition is that MP Abhishek Banerjee should get some big responsibility at the national level in Congress. However, neither any statement has come out from any leader behind these claims nor has anyone confirmed anything about it.
Is Mamata Banerjee compelled to go to Congress?
- The first reason is that out of 80 TMC MLAs, 58 MLAs rebelled and joined the Ritabrata Banerjee faction. He chose Ritabrata as his opposition leader.
- The second reason is the rebellion of Lok Sabha MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh, about 20 MPs left TMC and stood in support of NDA.
- The third reason is that after the breakdown of the party in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha, now it has become necessary for Mamata Banerjee to join the Congress to save her existence and stay in politics.
