TMC attacks BJP on Omar Abdullah’s claim, ‘playing the game on the basis of money’. TMC Slams BJP Over Omar Abdullah’s MLA Poaching Claim Calls It Their Game

TMC MP Saugata Roy also attacked BJP after Omar Abdullah accused BJP of buying MLAs. Roy said that BJP harasses opposition leaders on the basis of its money. Omar had claimed that BJP had offered his MLA Rs 20-30 crore.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [भारत]July 12 (ANI): Reacting to Omar Abdullah’s recent statement on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politics in Jammu and Kashmir, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy on Sunday lashed out at the BJP. He accused the party of using its financial muscle to “harass” opposition leaders.

Speaking to ANI, Roy condemned the “game” being played by the party to destabilize political opponents across the country. “This is BJP’s game. They harass opposition leaders everywhere. BJP also has no dearth of money… I condemn it. Kashmir is a sensitive place, and there should be no game of horse-trading there,” the TMC MP said.

Omar Abdullah had accused of buying MLA

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday claimed that the BJP had tried to woo a Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) MLA to switch sides by offering him Rs 20-30 crore and a ministerial berth. Abdullah said the MLA had rejected the proposal and had informed him about it.

Addressing a gathering here, Abdullah asserted, “A BJP official, who is a Supreme Court lawyer, told one of my Jammu MLAs in a closed room, ‘We will give Rs 20 to 30 crore, a ministry and statehood. You come with us.’ Do they think that the honor of these people is so cheap?”

Deputy Chief Minister also supported the claims

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary strongly supported Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s claims, alleging that the entire political foundation of the BJP is built on “lies”. Choudhary said, “Tell me when has the BJP ever spoken the truth. The work of the BJP is based only on lies. They came to power in 2014 on the basis of lies, then came back in 2019 and also in 2024, and their foundation has always been lies. Omar Abdullah is not one of those leaders who lie. He first checks the entire facts and then makes any statement.”

The Deputy Chief Minister further said that the revelations made by the Chief Minister will force the public to think about the political intentions of the BJP in the region. He said, “His statement will force the people of Jammu and Kashmir to think about what the BJP wants. Elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been held as per the laws made by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. The National Conference government formed in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Omar Abdullah is not nominated; it is elected. The people have elected them, and under their own laws.” (ANI)
