Communal riots in Bihar are continuously decreasing. In the last 20 years, it has recorded a decrease of three times. In the year 2004, there were 9 thousand, 199 riots across the state, in 2024, the number was reduced to 3 thousand, 186. Two major reasons for this are being considered. The first year 2016 came into full prohibition and the second Dial-112 system started in 2021. According to data related to the riot received from the police headquarters, there were 8 thousand, 520 riots in 2001. In 2004, their number increased to 9 thousand, 199.
After this, in 2015, a slight increase in the number of these incidents was recorded and it increased to 13 thousand 311. But after the implementation of the liquor ban law in 2016, it decreased rapidly. This number decreased to 11 thousand 617.
Help in stopping riot from Doyle-112
Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar says- Alcoholism law and Doyle-112 have proved to be very effective in reducing the incidents of rioting. There is a continuous decrease in riot incidents. Strict monitoring of such an incident is done. The process of punishing all the culprits immediately is done at a quick speed. Sustainable monitoring is done from the level of the headquarters to take effective action on these incidents.
205 incidents so far in 2025
In the year 2021, the police department started Doel-112 for emergency service. After this, these incidents were rapidly reduced and it decreased to 6 thousand 298 in 2021. In 2024, it decreased to close to half. It came to 3 thousand 186. In this way, in the last 20 years, the number of riots incidents has decreased by three times. In 2025, only 205 cases have been registered.
Picture changed due to police activeness
The police reaches the spot within 15 to 20 minutes of calling Doyle-112 in an emergency or incident. During the riots related incidents or any clash, the police reaches the concerned site and controls it as soon as the call comes on Doyle-112. In some cases, the number of police at some place arises in case of less than the miscreants.
But even in such a situation, while controlling the clash, it manages to save people from being injured. For this reason, there were 9 thousand, 419 incidents of riot in 2020, which decreased to 6 thousand, 298 in 2021. A decrease of more than 3 thousand was recorded in a year itself.
