This technology can provide relief from expensive oil, water will save fuel

global oil crisis

Amidst the global oil crisis and rising import costs, fuel saving has now become not only an economic but also a strategic need for India. At such a time, Monaco-based company FOWE Eco Solutions has introduced a technology which claims to reduce fuel consumption with the help of water. The company says that with its technology, industries can save up to 10 percent fuel and pollution can also reduce significantly.

India fulfills about 88 percent of its crude oil needs through imports. The increase in the price of oil in the international market and the weakening of the rupee have a direct impact on the country’s economy. Government oil companies are also facing huge losses to provide relief to consumers. In such a situation, every fuel saving technology is considered important.

How does this technology work?

This technology of FOWE Eco Solutions is based on Controlled Cavitation Technology (CCT). In this, very small water particles are mixed inside the fuel oil. The special thing is that no chemical is used in it.

When this mixture burns in an engine or boiler, water droplets create micro explosions. This breaks the fuel into very fine particles and burns more effectively. According to the company, this reduces fuel consumption and the combustion is cleaner.

Claim of fuel savings up to 10 percent

The company claims that fuel savings ranging from 3.6 percent to 10 percent have been observed in different trials. Alfa Laval’s testing lab in Denmark recorded fuel savings of up to 6.3 percent in boilers and 8.7 percent in marine engines.

In the tests conducted on the ships of Scorpio Tankers, about 10 percent bunker fuel saving was claimed. In India too, trials have been conducted in refineries and steel plants, where positive results are said to have emerged.

You will get benefit without changing engine

The biggest feature of this technology is said to be that it does not require major changes in the engine or machinery. Nor does the plant have to be closed. The company says that this technology also reduces the viscosity of heavy fuel oil. This can reduce pumping and heating costs. Besides, the need for use of expensive chemicals and extra diesel can also be reduced.

Also helps in reducing pollution

Along with fuel savings, the company has also claimed to reduce pollution. According to FOWE, this technology can reduce NOx emissions by about 30 percent and SOx emissions by about 40 percent. Apart from this, due to less accumulation of dirt inside the boiler and furnace, the maintenance requirement of the machines can also be reduced. This is likely to reduce the operating expenses of industries.

Why is this technology important for India?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already appealed to industries to save fuel. In such a situation, this technology can prove helpful for India in saving foreign exchange and reducing the pressure on inflation.

If its use is successful on a large scale, then the costs of heavy industries like refineries, steel plants, shipping and thermal power sectors can reduce. In the era of energy security and rising inflation, this method of saving fuel from water can prove to be a big change for India.
