History of the temple
A long time ago, there was a demon named Arunasura, who was blessed by Lord Brahma that neither any two-legged creature nor any four-legged creature would be able to kill him. Taking advantage of this boon, Arunasur started committing atrocities on the earth. Due to which Goddess Durga had to come to earth to kill Aruna Sur. Hearing this news, all the saints and sages were very happy and on the same day they built the Durga Parameshwari Temple at this place.

The entrance gate of this temple is called Gopura. This is the first attraction of the temple. If we talk about its height, it is about 108 feet high. Which attracts anyone’s attention. By visiting this temple you can see nine different incarnations of Goddess Durga simultaneously.
Food arrangements in the temple
This temple opens at 4 in the morning and its doors remain closed from 12 to 3 in the afternoon. After which the temple remains open for devotees from 3 pm to 10 pm. Food is also arranged for the devotees between 12:30 to 3 pm and 8:30 to 10 pm. Let us tell you that food is provided to the devotees only in the form of Prasad.

By Bus- To reach the temple, first you have to catch a train or bus from your city to Mangalore. After this you can take a bus to Katel from Mangalore itself. From where Durga Parmeshwari Temple is not far.

This temple is situated in Katel. The nearest railway station to Katel is Mangalore. You reached here by train. The distance of this temple from Mangalore will be 28 km. You can book a taxi or cab to go here.
By flight-
If you are going by flight, you will have to reach Mangalore International Airport. The distance of the temple from here is only 12 km. After reaching Mangalore Airport, you can take a taxi or cab to reach Durga Parameshwari Temple.
