ShaktiSat Mission: Ragni Sahu, a student from Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, has been selected as a national finalist for the international Moon mission ‘ShaktiSat’. She is the only student selected from the entire state.
A student from Chhattisgarh has achieved such an achievement in the field of space science, which has increased the pride of the entire state. Ragni Sahu, a student of Government Ashibai Golchha Girls Higher Secondary School of Mahasamund district, has been selected as the national finalist for the international lunar mission ‘ShaktiSat’. The special thing is that she is the only student from entire Chhattisgarh to be selected for this prestigious mission.
Made place among only 20 students from across the country
Ragni Sahu has passed the rigorous selection process at the national level and has made her place among only 20 national finalists across the country. He had registered in this mission through the Atal Tinkering Lab of his school in the year 2025. During the selection process, Ragni completed approximately 120 hours of online training, 21 detailed modules and more than 550 space, satellite, science, innovation and engineering lessons. His hard work and talent earned him recognition at the national level.
Students from 108 countries will together make moon satellite
‘Mission ShaktiSat’ is a global lunar mission, in which students from 108 countries including India are participating. Two Moon satellites will be developed under this project. One of these will be established in the Moon’s orbit, while the other will land on the lunar surface and conduct scientific experiments.
Ragni will participate in an 8-day national workshop organized at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida from 22 to 31 August 2026. Here they will get the opportunity to learn directly from ISRO, IN-SPACe scientists, Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and international space experts.
ISRO will launch on October 11, wave of happiness in the state
These satellites being prepared by the students will be launched by ISRO from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on October 11, 2026, on the occasion of International Girl Child Day. This mission is affiliated with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and is being operated by Space Kidz India. On this achievement of Ragni, Mahasamund Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh, District Education Officer B.L. Dewangan and other education officials have congratulated him and wished him a bright future.
