Its architecture is a mix of traditional and modern elements. Currently, the Grand Mosque has 45 small domes and 9 large domes. Its tower is 70 meters high. This mosque was originally built in 1900 but was demolished in 1960 and rebuilt in 1998. It has a seating capacity of 1200 people. Non-Muslims can visit for free from 9am to 11.30am daily from Sunday to Thursday.
This mosque is named after Omar bin Al Khattab who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and became the second Caliph after Abu Dhabi. This mosque was inspired by the Blue Mosque of Istanbul. It contains beautiful elements of Ottoman architecture, such as grand domes and intricate tile work. It is located on Sheikh Rashid Road in Dubai. Construction of the mosque was completed in 2011 and it was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
