Africa T20 Series: The team has been announced for the four-match T20 series with South Africa to be held in November. In view of this, chief selector Ajit Agarkar is beyond comprehension. Some players were given a chance in the team whose selection remains in question. Today in this article we will tell about three such decisions of Agarkar.
Why Akshar in Africa series instead of Border-Gavaskar?
Let us tell you that Akshar Patel was given a chance in the team for the Africa series. Questions are being raised continuously regarding this. Why has Akshar been kept in T20 instead of Border-Gavaskar series? If we look at Akshar’s statistics, he is a better red ball player. He is more comfortable with Test cricket than T20.
He has played 14 Test matches while he has played 62 matches in T20, in which if we talk about his batting, he has scored 646 runs in Test at an average of 35.88, whereas in T20 he has scored only 463 runs at an average of 20.13. If we talk about his bowling, If we do this, he has taken 55 wickets at an economy rate of 2.51, while in T20 he has taken 62 wickets at an economy rate of 7.38.
Why did flop Abhishek Sharma get another chance?
Another absurd decision by Ajit Agarkar was to include Abhishek Sharma in the T20 squad despite being out of form. He was given a chance in the series against Bangladesh, but he was a complete flop. His performance in that was poor. In that series, Abhishek played innings of 16, 15, 4 runs.
Why is Vijaykumar in the team despite average performance?
The selectors have also given a chance to Vijay Kumar Vaishya to debut in the series against Africa. But this decision of the selectors is absolutely absurd. Let us tell you that 27 year old Vijay has not yet made his debut in international cricket. He is getting a chance to debut on the basis of Ranji and IPL. If we look at his figures in T20, he has taken 42 wickets at an economy of 8.29.
