There are 13 glacier lakes in Uttarakhand. Many times, due to the breakdown or melting of the glacier, the water level in the rivers increases and in such a situation, the situation of floods is created, but now such preparations are being done, after which it will be known before the flood. For this, preparations are being made to install sensors in the glacier lakes of Uttarakhand. In these, five lakes have been marked, in which the sensor is planned to be installed.
Apart from this, a decision has also been taken to study about some lakes. These include lakes that are very sensitive. This decision has been taken by the State Disaster Management Authority. Apart from five lakes, it has been decided to study Kedratal lake ahead of Gangotri. Last year, a study of Vasundhara Taal in Chamoli district of the state was done.
30 crore proposal sent
It has been decided to install the sensor in the glacier lakes. For them, a proposal of 30 crore has been sent by the Disaster Management Department to the National Disaster Management Authority. The plan to install the sensor has been made to find out the changes in the lakes from time to time, so that steps can be taken in view of security before any change.
Address of change in lake
After the sensor is installed, the changes in the lake can be ascertained. These sensors will already alert about any danger, so that arrangements will be made as per the need and safe steps will be taken. Lakes are made with melted water behind the glacier or on its edge. When the glacier burst suddenly causes a large amount of water, then there is flood in the surrounding areas. After these sensors are imposed, the first alert will be found in such a situation.
