There was a lot of violence against the revised Waqf Act in Murshidabad, West Bengal, constant efforts are being made to control the situation. Security forces have been deployed in violent areas. Meanwhile, on Monday (April 14), BSF’s Eastern Command ADG Ravi Gandhi arrived on a two -day visit to Malda and Murshidabad. He told that now the situation is peaceful. He also said that there has been no infiltration from across the border.
The BSF is working closely with the state police to deal with the tense situation in Murshidabad. ADG Ravi Gandhi held a meeting with police and BSF officers at Shamsherganj police station. After the meeting, he told that currently there are 9 BSF companies in Murshidabad. The situation is now under control, although there is fear. He said that the state police and BSF are working together. ADG is a two -day tour of Malda and Murshidabad. During this time, he will visit the violence affected areas Suti, Samserganj, Jangipur and review the BSF deployed in sensitive areas.
‘Things are becoming normal’
Earlier on Monday, Additional Director General of State Police (ADG) Javed Shamim said that the situation is now peaceful. He said that efforts are being made to restore peace and stability in the affected areas. The situation is much better than before and shops have also started opening in areas. With this, he told that people who left their homes are now returning. So far 19 families have returned. He also told that 210 people have been arrested in the violence case so far.
3 people died in violence
In West Bengal, 3 people have died in the protest over the Waqf Amendment Bill, while many people have been seriously injured. These include policemen. During the protest, the miscreants set fire to police vehicles as well as several vehicles as well as stoned fiercely. The situation became serious on Friday in Suti, Dhulian, Shamsherganj and Jangipur areas of Murshidabad, although now the situation is becoming normal.
