The government says that the objective of this project is not limited only to road construction, but also to provide safe and easy transportation facilities to the passengers. This will benefit millions of people from better road network.

Zone wise composite tender system will be implemented for the first time

The biggest feature of this project is that zone wise composite tender system will be implemented for the first time in Delhi. Under this, works related to road construction and maintenance will be done in an integrated manner, which will increase accountability and better control can be maintained over the quality of work.

The government has set a defect liability period of five years for contractors. Apart from this, a provision has also been made to ensure repair within 48 hours in case of pothole formation on the road, so that people do not have to face bad roads for a long time.

Special focus will be on quality and environmental standards

To ensure the quality of road construction works, independent quality audit will be conducted by CSIR-CRRI and School of Planning and Architecture (SPA). This will ensure regular monitoring of construction works and adherence to technical standards.

At the same time, the environmental standards of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) will be strictly followed to control dust and pollution. Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and senior officials of the department were also present in the meeting. The government believes that this project will prove to be an important step towards strengthening the infrastructure of the capital and providing better road facilities to the citizens.
