Karnataka Political Crisis: Karnataka politics once again seems to be at a turning point. After the ongoing discussions between the Congress leadership and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the last few days, speculations about change of power have intensified. There is talk in political circles that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is ready to resign and there may be a change of leadership in the state soon. Although no official announcement has been made by the Congress yet, the information coming out from the sources has increased the temperature of the politics of the state.
Randeep Surjewala arrived with Rahul Gandhi’s message
According to sources, Randeep Singh Surjewala had come to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on behalf of the Congress high command. Discussion on DK Shivkumar’s name intensified
There was a discussion going on within the Congress for a long time that under the formula of two and a half years of power, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar can now be made the Chief Minister. A day earlier, the party high command had also reportedly asked Siddaramaiah to clear the way in this direction. However, at that time the Chief Minister had said that he would talk on this issue on Thursday. It is now believed that the political picture may become clear in the coming few hours.
Preparation to meet the Governor
If sources are to be believed, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought time to meet Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. There is a possibility that he may submit his resignation on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister can also attend the breakfast meeting with his cabinet colleagues and DK Shivakumar. Due to this, political activities have become more intense.
Congress did not accept the official decision
Amid growing speculation in the state, Congress’ Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala made it clear that the party has not yet called any meeting of the legislature party nor has any final decision been taken. He appealed to the leaders and media not to draw hasty conclusions in this matter. However, the ongoing meetings within the party and frequent meetings of leaders have given further impetus to political discussions.
MLAs supported
Senior Congress MLA Deshpande claimed that Siddaramaiah himself informed him about the decision to resign. He said that many MLAs and ministers came to meet the Chief Minister and appealed to him not to step down from his post.
But the Chief Minister reportedly said that he would honor the promise he had made to the high command. This is the reason why he is deciding to resign.
If Siddaramaiah resigns, Karnataka will see a major political change after three years of the formation of the Congress government. DK Shivkumar is considered most likely to become the Chief Minister. At present, the eyes of the entire state are fixed on the next political signal coming from the Congress high command and the Chief Minister’s residence.
