The only Yamraj temple in the country is in Gwalior, which is about 300 years old. On Narak Chaudas, a day before Diwali, Yamraj is worshiped and anointed with Vedic mantras. Also, a vow is made to Yamraj that he should not trouble them in the last phase. Markandeya Temple is at Phoolbagh intersection of Gwalior. It is said that the temple was established by the kings of Sandhiya dynasty about 300 years ago. There is a religious belief about worshiping Yamraj on Narak Chaudas, which is mentioned in mythological stories.
The only temple of Yamraj in Gwalior, special worship is done on this day.
