The highly anticipated thriller series under the production house Yash Raj Films will finally be premiering on Netflix on October 30, 2026.
The production journey for Akka commenced a couple of years back in November 2023. The upcoming Indian thriller crime series will be set in the 1980’s in the fictional city of Pernuru. Akka will feature a matriarchal rule, wherein the women in the family will be the ones holding supreme power. All goes well until an unforeseen threat plagues the bond between the sisters, channelling chaos and violence.
A mysterious person enters their lives, bringing along emotions of hatred and revenge towards the Akkas. Her aggression quickly translates into plotting against the sisters, exploiting their weaknesses and creating resentment as she brews a heated rivalry between the two.
Keerthy Suresh will be making her official OTT debut in Akka alongside the versatile Radhika Apte under the direction of Dharmaraj Shetty. Keerthy Suresh was previously seen in Dorothy (2026), Baby John (2024), and many other projects, especially in South India. Radhika Apte, on the other hand, was last seen in the newly released Lust Stories 3. The writer of the show Akka, Dharmaraj Shetty, will be making his directorial debut with this film. Apart from them, there will be an inclusion of other talents including Tanvi Azmi, Aeklavya Tomer, and Nisha Vishwakarma, among others.
Akka will be the third official collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Netflix. Prior to this, they produced two projects including Railway Men (2023) starring R. Madhavan, Babil Khan, and Kay Kay Menon and Mandala Murders (2025) starring Vaani Kapoor, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Both of these, similar to Akka featured under the thriller genre.
