A very wonderful and big good news has come from the Yogi government of the state for the daughters and poor families of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government has made a very important change in its very popular ‘Mukhyamantri Mass Marriage Scheme’ and has taken a decision that will provide great relief to the daughters.
In view of the continuously skyrocketing prices of silver in the market, the government has now decided to send cash directly to the bride’s bank account instead of the silver anklets and toe rings given under the scheme. This big step of the government will not only bring transparency in the scheme, but will also provide huge financial facility and help to the poor families in handling the wedding expenses as per their need.
After all, what is this Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme?
For those who do not know, let us tell you that the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme is a very ambitious and important social scheme of the Uttar Pradesh state government. The main objective of this scheme is to bear the burden of huge expenses incurred in the marriage of daughters of economically weak, poor and needy families and to provide them huge financial assistance. Under this scheme, the government bears the entire expenditure of about Rs 1 lakh on the marriage of each couple, so that poor parents do not have to get trapped in the quagmire of debt.
Know how much money will now come into the account instead of jewellery?
Let us now explain to you in simple words what major changes the government has made in the rules of this scheme. According to the old system, under this scheme earlier Rs 60,000 were transferred directly to the bride’s bank account. Apart from this, an amount of ₹ 25,000 was fixed for giving silver anklets, toe rings and other necessary gift items, while ₹ 15,000 was spent on grand wedding celebrations and other necessary tent-food arrangements.
But now, in view of the increasing inflation of silver, a historic decision has been taken to give cash instead of anklets and toe rings given as gifts. Under this new rule, out of the gift item amount, an additional cash amount of about ₹ 4,000 will be sent directly to the bride’s bank account in exchange for silver jewellery. That is, after this big change, now a total of Rs 64,000 will be directly transferred to the bank account of the bride sitting in the wedding hall instead of the earlier Rs 60,000. At the same time, the amount of ₹ 15,000 earmarked for grand celebration of mass marriage and other arrangements will be spent at the administrative level as before.
Transparency will increase in the scheme and greater freedom will be available
This new step of the government has not only been taken keeping in mind the rising prices of silver in the market, but it will also eliminate the possibility of any irregularities in the entire scheme and increase transparency. Getting additional cash directly into the bank account will provide a great flexibility to poor daughters and their families. Now, with this money, they will be able to buy other important wedding items as per their choice and actual need, which will give them more convenience and happiness than before.
