There is always ups and downs in Pakistan cricket but the last one and a half to two years have been very controversial. There have been many changes, especially regarding coaches and captains, the latest example of which has come in the form of the resignation of ODI and T20 team coach Gary Kirsten. PCB broke the terms of the contract due to which Kirsten had to resign in just 6 months, but even before Kirsten, there was a coach who was forced to resign by PCB due to his actions. This coach is Mickey Arthur, who has now got a chance to work with a new team. (Photo: AFP)
Mickey Arthur, who has been the coach of South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, has been appointed as the coach of Bangladesh Premier League team Rangpur Riders for one year. During this time, he will take charge of the team in the Global Super League to be held in November and then will also work with the team for the Bangladesh Premier League in the next season. Mickey Arthur is already working as Director of Cricket in England’s county club Derbyshire. He had resigned from Pakistan cricket earlier this year, when PCB removed him from the Director of Cricket of Pakistan team and shifted him to the National Cricket Academy. (Photo: AFP)
Arthur started his second tenure with the Pakistani team in April 2023, but after the defeat of the Pakistani team in the World Cup 2023, this responsibility was given to Mohammad Hafeez in his place and Arthur was forced to resign. Arthur was the coach of the Pakistani team even before this and the team had won the Champions Trophy in 2017 but he was fired after the 2019 World Cup. (Photo: AFP)
