In a recent interview, Kiku Sharda told that The Great Indian Kapil Show is not completely scripted. According to him, about 70% of the show is based on a pre-written script, while 30% is composed entirely of on-the-spot conversations and improvisations by the artists. He said that the team deliberately does not tell the jokes or punchlines in advance to the celebrity guests coming to the show. Kiku Sharda said that if the guests are told about every joke or character in advance, their reaction may seem artificial. Therefore, every effort is made to see those jokes and characters for the first time on stage. He said that this strategy works behind the spontaneous laughter that the audience sees. When guests are unaware of a funny moment, their reactions are most genuine.
The show goes beyond the script
Kiku told that even though the script of the show is ready, depending on the direction the conversation goes during the shooting, the actors sometimes go out of the script and perform. He said that sometimes celebrity guests say something which no one expects. In such a situation, the artist prepares a new joke or a new answer at that very moment.
