A tragic accident took place in Bhagalpur, Bihar. In a village in the district, a candle fire burnt alive three people sleeping in a thatched house. One person was badly burnt and injured in the fire incident. The dead include a mother and two innocent children. The father has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The fire brigade which reached the spot after receiving information about the fire brought the fire under control late in the night. The police have sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem.
This gruesome accident happened in Athaniya village located in Pirpainti district. Thursday night brought a mountain of sorrow for Gautam Singh, a resident of this place. In front of his eyes, his two innocent children and his wife died tragically due to burning in the fire. Due to no electricity in the village, the family members were sleeping in the hut with candles lit. Suddenly the candle overturned and a massive fire broke out.
Two children including mother died, father serious
The fire took a catastrophic turn within a few minutes. The flames spread throughout the house. By the time Gautam could understand anything, his wife and two children were burnt in the fire. By the time people nearby arrived, Gautam Singh’s wife Varsha Devi, son Pratyush and daughter Jyoti had died. Meanwhile, Gautam got badly burnt. He was admitted to the referral hospital in Peerpainti. But seeing his condition worsening there, he was referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, Bhagalpur.
The family was sleeping with candles lit
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s cousin Ankit told that the financial condition of Gautam’s family was very weak. He earns his living from a small grocery shop. His house was also made of straw. He had lit a candle before sleeping on Thursday night. Four members were sleeping inside the house. For some reason the candle overturned and the thatched house caught fire, three people died on the spot.
Somehow people saved Gautam. When the family members started shouting, people nearby gathered. Local people and fire brigade team brought the fire under control late in the night. Police said that the three bodies were brought to Bhagalpur Medical College for post-mortem. Meanwhile, badly injured Gautam Singh is undergoing treatment in Mayaganj hospital.
