‘The crash between Augusto Fernández and Pedro Acosta was a misunderstanidng, just bad luck’ – Hervé Poncharal

The first free practice session of the Solidarity GP of Barcelona witnessed an impressive incident between the two Red Bull GasGas Tech3 riders – Augusto Fernández and Pedro Acosta.

After exiting turn 5 side by side, they ended up making contact, which caused both riders to fall with some force. However, neither the riders nor the bikes suffered significant damage.

Tech3 team manager Hervé Poncharal discussed the incident during the official MotoGP livestream. The Frenchman described it as a misunderstanding without major consequences:

– What happened was a misunderstanding between the guys on the first lap out. Pedro didn’t blame Augusto, I think it was just bad luck, I would say. I don’t want to say more. The good thing is that the damage on the bikes was not too big, and both riders were absolutely fine.
