Has Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ proved to be a disaster? Is the 3 day earning figure an alarm bell for the film? Did BOGO offer also not attract the audience? Did you not get the benefit of being tax free? Is the journey ahead going to be more difficult for a film with a budget of Rs 35-45 crore?
Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ has not got the expected start at the box office. This film, based on the backdrop of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, showed slight growth on the first Saturday and Sunday, but could not perform as expected. Kangana Ranaut not only plays the lead role in the film, but she has also co-produced it under her banner Manikarnika Films. Despite being declared tax free in Delhi and Haryana and running the Buy One Get One ticket offer across the country, the film does not seem to be successful in drawing audiences to theaters in large numbers.
Slight increase in the earnings of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ even on the third day
According to box office figures, ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ collected a net collection of around Rs 1.80 crore on the third day of its release i.e. first Sunday. If compared with the second day’s earnings (Rs 1.45 crore), it has achieved a growth of about 24.1 percent. The collection of this film on the first day was only Rs 1 crore. In this way, the film earned a net of Rs 4.25 crore in three days. The gross collection of the film has become Rs 5.09 crore.

Budget and recovery of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’
According to a report on the internet, the production budget of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ is around Rs 25-30 crore. At the same time, Rs 8-10 crore has been spent separately on the salary of the star cast. Out of this, Rs 6-7 crore is only Kangana Ranaut’s fees. The total fee for the supporting cast is said to be Rs 2-3 crore. If this information is correct then the film has not been able to recover even the fees of the actress in 3 days. If marketing, distribution and post production (sound design, editing and VFX) are included, the estimated budget of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ is estimated to be Rs 35-45 crore. Overall, in three days the film has recovered only 9-12 percent of its cost.
Didn’t get big benefit even from BOGO offer
To bring the audience to the theatres, the producers had started the ‘Buy One Get One’ offer across the country. Usually such promotional offers help in increasing footfall in the initial days, but in the case of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’, its impact appeared to be limited. The film could not attract a large number of viewers even on the most important day of the weekend.

Tax free in Delhi and Haryana
Amidst the release of the film, it was declared tax free in Delhi and Haryana. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made this announcement after a special screening held in Chandigarh. Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had also announced to make the film tax free. However, this decision did not have a major impact in the initial box office figures.
A story of courage amid 26/11 attacks
‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ is based on the bravery of the doctors, nurses and staff of Cama Hospital during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The film shows how hospital staff risked their lives to protect patients, pregnant women, newborn children and the seriously ill. The story is said to be inspired by the adventures of real-life nurse Anjali Kulthe and her colleagues. Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Girija Oak, Smita Tambe and Isha De are also seen in important roles in the film. It is directed by Manoj Tapadia, while Manikarnika Films has played a major role in the production.
