Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [भारत]July 19 (ANI): The body of an accused, wanted for allegedly murdering his wife and carrying a bounty of Rs 10,000 on his head, was found on the railway track in Ganjbasoda on Sunday morning, police said.
The accused has been identified as Akhilesh Saini, who was the main accused in the murder of his wife, Assistant Postal Officer Urmila Saini, in the Sanyogitaganj police station area of Indore a few days ago. The police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the arrest of the accused. His body was found this morning in Ganjbasoda Kotwali police station area and it is suspected that he had committed suicide.
The accused had absconded after giving ATM card to his daughter.
Indore Police spokesperson Rajesh Dandotia said that the accused had handed over the ATM card of the deceased to his daughter before fleeing. When the daughter reached home, she found that her mother had been murdered. Subsequently, an FIR was registered.
He said, “Akhilesh Saini was accused of murdering his wife Urmila Saini. After committing the murder, he absconded. Before escaping, he handed over an ATM card of Urmila Saini to his younger daughter and left. Later, when the daughter reached home and opened the door, she found that her mother had been murdered. Following this, an FIR was lodged.”
Dandotiya mentioned that the police used CCTV footage to track the accused, who was moving towards the railway station and then outside the complex. Even though the footage was not completely clear, continuous efforts were being made to arrest the accused.
He stressed, “To ensure his arrest, a reward of Rs 10,000 was announced by DCP Zone-3, and a proposal to increase it to Rs 20,000 was also under consideration. Meanwhile, it was learned that the body of Akhilesh Saini has been found, which has now been identified by his family, as informed by the station in-charge.”
The matter is under investigation and further details are awaited. (ANI)
