Former Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, Subesh Singh passed away today. IPS Subesh Singh of 1984 batch was suffering from cancer for a long time. Due to this disease, he died late on Tuesday night at the age of 68. He was cremated in Banaras on Wednesday afternoon. IPS Subesh Singh, originally from Bhagalpur, was born on 3 January 1956. After studying MSc in Botany, he was selected in the 1984 batch of the Indian Police Service.

At that time he got Uttar Pradesh cadre. After the police academy training, Subesh Singh’s field training was done under the guidance of former IPS OP Singh, who was DG in Uttar Pradesh Police. After this, he got the captaincy of Pithoragarh district in united Uttar Pradesh for the first time. Then he was SP in Mau, Jaunpur, Dehradun, Faizabad and Gorakhpur. In 1997, he got the charge of SSP in the capital of Uttar Pradesh. After this, he traveled as DIG, IG and ADG in many zones and retired after reaching the post of DG.

Subesh Singh retired from the post of DG

While being ADG, Subesh Singh was posted for some time on the posts of STF, ATS, Law and Order, Personnel and ADG Training. Apart from this, he has also been posted on the post of DG EOW and State Information Commissioner. The IPS officer, who generally worked in a calm and planned manner, once became aggressive when he was Lucknow SSP. There was a police encounter with the then gangster Shriprakash Shukla. In this, SSP Peshkar RK Singh had died after being shot by Sriprakash.

Sworn to eliminate Shriprakash Shukla

After this incident, he had taken an oath in the police meeting itself that now he will not rest till Shriprakash Shukla is buried. However, just a few days after this incident, STF was formed to catch Shriprakash Shukla dead or alive and this STF killed Shriprakash Shukla within just six months. Later Subesh Singh also became DIG in STF and worked effectively on many schemes to eliminate criminals.

After retiring from the post of DG, the Uttar Pradesh government also made him a member of several judicial commissions. This also includes the case of murder of mafia don Atiq-Ashraf in Prayagraj. Rajesh Pandey, who was CO under Subesh Singh, describes him as a brilliant and intelligent officer in his book Supremacy. At the same time, former IPS OP Singh, who was the SSP of Subesh Kumar Singh during his training, has also appreciated his decisions. Former IPS OP Singh has written a message on social media on the death of Subesh Singh. It said that he has lost a true, gentlemanly, liberal and dedicated friend to duty. Said that Subesh Kumar Singh has left behind a legacy of honesty, kindness and loyalty.
