MILWAUKEE (AP) – Teoscar Hernández delivered a standout performance with a home run and six RBIs, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 11-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.
The win allowed the Dodgers to break Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak and marked their first regular-season win against the Brewers since August 13, 2024.
The Dodgers’ bullpen showcased its strength by extending its scoreless innings streak to 36, the longest for the team since at least 1901 and the longest for any major league bullpen since September 2017. Roki Sasaki, the Dodgers’ starting pitcher, was supported by relievers Alex Vesia, Kyle Hurt, Tanner Scott, and Jonathan Hernández, who combined to limit the Brewers to just one hit in the final seven innings.
Dodgers Overcome Early Deficit
After trailing 3-0, the Dodgers surged ahead by scoring four runs in the fourth inning against Brewers starter Robert Gasser (0-1). The rally commenced with consecutive doubles from Freddie Freeman and Andy Pages, followed by a walk to Kyle Tucker. Hernández then hit a three-run homer that sailed off the left-field foul pole, establishing a lead that the Dodgers would not relinquish.
Strong Relief Pitching
The Dodgers’ bullpen maintained its dominance, with no runs allowed since a May 12 loss to the San Francisco Giants. The team added three runs off DL Hall in the eighth inning and four runs off Jake Woodford in the ninth, showcasing their offensive depth. The Brewers’ pitchers issued a season-high 11 walks, including four to Freeman, contributing to the team’s struggles on the mound.
Brewers’ Performance Highlights
Despite the loss, Brewers’ Jackson Chourio excelled with two doubles, while Jake Bauers ended his 12-game hitting streak with three strikeouts. This marked a disappointing performance for the Brewers, who had previously dominated the Dodgers in recent matchups.
Upcoming Matchup
Looking ahead, the Dodgers will have Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3-4, 3.32 ERA) on the mound, while the Brewers will counter with Brandon Sproat (1-2, 5.75) in their Sunday afternoon matchup.
