The vicious criminal very discreetly broke the main lock of the house and made away with the ancestral jewelery kept in the cupboard. When the victim’s family returned, the ground slipped beneath their feet after seeing the sight of the house. A total of 333 grams of gold jewellery, 10.29 kg of silver utensils and cash worth Rs 1 lakh were missing from the house, the total value of which was estimated to be around Rs 42.5 lakh.

CCTV network and that one clue: Police faced a big challenge

As soon as information about the incident was received, Kamareddy Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Chandra took immediate action considering the seriousness of the matter. A joint special team of Kamareddy Town Police and Crime Conviction Squad (CCS) was formed. The biggest challenge before the police was that the accused had not left behind any direct clues. After this the police started scanning hundreds of CCTV footages of the area. After weeks of hard work, analysis of technical evidence and tracking of mobile tower dump data, the police finally got a blurry picture of a suspect and clues to his activities. But the challenge was not over yet, because the vicious thief was trying to escape from the reach of the police.

High-voltage chase on Mumbai-bound bus and highway: Accused caught at the last moment

Through technical surveillance, the police got intelligence that the accused was preparing to leave the state to dispose of the stolen goods. His plan was to escape to Mumbai by taking a private luxury bus from Hyderabad. Time was very short and once he disappeared in the markets of Mumbai, it was impossible to catch him. The special police team laid a trap and blocked the National Highway. As soon as the private bus passed through the highway, the police stopped it. Even before the frightened passengers sitting inside the bus could understand anything, the police caught the accused Tagore Jagan Singh, a resident of Karimnagar district. Upon search, 145 grams of gold jewelery and 5.7 kg of silver were recovered from him.

After the arrest, when the police investigated the criminal history (crime record) of Tagore Jagan Singh, the officers themselves were shocked. SP Rajesh Chandra made a shocking revelation in the press conference that the arrested accused is not a petty thief but an audacious habitual criminal, against whom 32 criminal cases are already registered in different police stations. His modus operandi was that he used to target only closed luxurious houses and would take the stolen valuables directly to Mumbai and sell them so that the local police could not reach him.
