Riyan Parag underwent shoulder surgery

The last few times have been quite challenging for Riyan Parag. In the second half of IPL 2026, he was seriously troubled by a hamstring problem, due to which he could not even play a league match against Lucknow Super Giants. Despite this, despite not being fully fit, he played the last do-or-die league match against Mumbai Indians to take his team to the playoffs and keep them in the title race. Not only this, even during the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Qualifier-2 matches against Gujarat Titans, he was clearly visible in pain while running on the field.

Along with this, he was also suffering from shoulder injury. Due to which now he has to undergo surgery. After the successful surgery, Riyan Parag himself shared a post on his Instagram account and informed the fans about his health. Posting a photo of himself smiling from a hospital bed on Instagram, Ryan wrote, ‘Finally the shoulder won. To all the people who were continuously asking me, let me tell them that the surgery has been done and it was successful. The last two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were some good days, some very disappointing days, and there were some days when even completing one match was a big challenge for me. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now I have a different kind of challenge, recovery, rehab and patience. I will soon be back to what I love most (cricket). Will meet you on the other side.

Had to miss out from India A tour also

Riyan Parag was managing this old shoulder problem for a long time under the supervision of BCCI medical team. He was also made the vice-captain of the ‘India-A’ team for the 50-over tri-series being played in Sri Lanka, but due to increasing hamstring and shoulder problems, he had to be left out of the team. Rituraj Gaikwad was included in the team in his place.
