Team India has also won the series by defeating Zimbabwe in the second T20 match. In this match played in Harare also, Team India defeated Zimbabwe on both the fronts from batting to bowling and won the match as well as the series by a huge margin of 90 runs. On the basis of the innings of Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma, the Indian team had scored 219 runs. After this, all the bowlers together bowled out Zimbabwe for just 129 runs. In this way, after losing 2 consecutive series under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Team India finally won its first trophy.
Ishaan and Tilak played stormy innings
48 hours after winning the first T20 match in Harare, Team India again showed a strong performance on this ground. In this match played on Saturday, July 25, the Indian team batted first this time and this decision also went in favor of the team. However, despite Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s short but fast innings, Team India had lost 2 wickets for just 29 runs, but after that Ishan Kishan’s bat flourished. This left-handed batsman played an explosive inning of 81 runs in just 44 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes.
During this period, Ishan Kishan got good support from vice-captain Tilak Verma, who was facing criticism for a long time. Tilak scored a half-century in just 23 balls and played the role of an excellent finisher for the team, playing an unbeaten inning of 60 runs in just 29 balls. It was only on their strength that Team India could score 219 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Strong performance by bowlers including Prince-Yash
In response, Brian Bennett gave a fast start to Zimbabwe and for once it seemed that Team India would have to struggle this time. But Yash Thakur gave India its first success by dismissing Bennett in the fourth over. This wicket was special because Thakur made his debut in international cricket from this match. After this the wickets kept falling gradually. Prince Yadav took 2 wickets in 8 balls, which also included Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. But after this wicket he went out due to hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi again bowled effectively, where he also got support from Shivam Dubey, Tilak Verma and Abhishek Sharma. The interesting thing is that the last three wickets were taken by Abhishek Sharma, who proved to be India’s most successful bowler in this match. He gave only 17 runs in a spell of 2.5 overs and defeated Zimbabwe by taking 3 wickets. In this way, after losing two consecutive T20 series in Ireland and England, Team India has got its first series win under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.
