The student union of a college in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh is demanding elections. Students of KBPG College demonstrated by locking the college gate demanding holding of student union elections. The protesting students also took teachers hostage.

The police threatened the protesting students and said that do not create too much drama otherwise all the leadership will be lost. In such a situation, the students said that until a fixed date is fixed for the elections, they will continue their protest like this. The students said that their protest will continue even in the cold.

Demand to hold student union elections while lying on the ground

The students said that the district administration and the college administration are disregarding the High Court. Until the demand is met, the protest will continue in this manner by lying down even in the cold.
College elections are not being held for three years
In fact, elections are not being held in the college for the last three years, due to which students have demonstrated many times from the district headquarters to the college demanding elections. Four days ago, students had demonstrated in the college demanding holding of student union elections and were assured that the date would be announced soon. Angered by the non-announcement of the date of student union elections, the students locked the college gate on Monday and took the teachers hostage. The students demand that the Chief Development Officer and the Principal should come and announce a fixed date, only then we will end the protest otherwise the protest will continue even in the cold.

KVPG College Principal Ashok Kumar said that in the absence of clear orders from the High Court and as per the rules of the Ling Doh Committee, the student union elections cannot be held. Besides, cooperation of the district administration is also required in the elections. If everything becomes clear then it may be possible to hold elections.
