So far, the police have arrested 7 employees, including six men and one woman (HR head). In this case, 8 female employees have filed a complaint, who allege that their senior colleagues harassed them mentally and sexually. Also, the HR department did not take any action on their complaints.

The arrested employees, who were later suspended, have been identified as Danish Shaikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Shaikh, Asif Aftab Ansari and HR head Ashwini Chainani. The company took immediate action and suspended all of them until the investigation is completed.

Tata Consultancy Services has distanced itself from this matter and clearly said that it adopts ‘zero tolerance’ policy against any kind of harassment or coercion. According to the company, as soon as the matter came to light, immediate action was taken and all the accused were suspended. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran described the matter as “extremely worrying and sad”. He said that the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated. A detailed investigation process is underway under the supervision of TCS Chief Operating Officer Aarti Subramanian. Its objective is to clarify the facts and identify the culprits. The matter is being taken with utmost seriousness and action has already been initiated against the accused.
