Tata Motors EV Launch: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles on Thursday launched the next generation model of its popular hatchback car Tiago. It has been introduced in the name of Next Gen Tiago and Tiago.ev. These new models come with petrol, iCNG and electric powertrain options, which aim to provide advanced technology, better safety and economy to Indian customers. The company said that the starting price of Next Gen Tiago (petrol-diesel model) is Rs 4.69 lakh. Whereas, the price of Tiago.ev i.e. its full electric version starts from Rs 6.99 lakh.

Will this car become the king of the segment?
- This car has been in the market for the last decade and till now it has more than 7 lakh customers. The company says that the new Tiago range has been redesigned with updated exterior, more premium interior, connected technology and better safety features.
- Launching the new models, Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, said, “For millions of Indian families, hatchback cars are the first step into the world of personal mobility. But for a long time, this segment has not received much attention from the industry, when it should have received much more attention.”
- He further added that the next gen Tiago will feature “significantly updated exteriors, a more premium interior experience than ever before, advanced connected technologies like 360-degree surround view system and blind view monitor, and a robust safety package.”
After all, what special does the new Tiago bring?
- According to the company, for the first time in the industry, lifetime warranty is being given on the high-voltage battery in Tiago.ev. Its fast charging capability is also better, due to which it can give a range of 100 kilometers in just 18 minutes.
- Chandra said, “Tiago.ev is India’s first electric car that is not only fun to drive, but is also a smart choice financially.”

- The electric version offers multiple battery pack options and flexible ownership models.
- Talking about safety, Tiago.ev has six airbags and electronic stability system as standard.

- The company said that both ICE and EV versions of the next-gen Tiago are part of its strategy to provide “accessible, safe, smart and aspirational mobility for India”.
