Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple: Uttarakhand is called Devbhoomi. There are many famous temples here. Here Mahadev Baba is present in the form of Kedarnath. The holy place of Badrinath is also located here. There are also Gangotri and Yamunotri. All these are part of the holy Char Dham, but apart from all these, there are many holy and mysterious temples in Uttarakhand. One of these is Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is located in the state capital Dehradun. This temple is on the banks of Tons river. This Shiva temple is full of miracles.

According to Hindu religious beliefs, this temple is 6000 years old. This temple is said to be related to Dwapar era. This temple is considered to be the penance place of Guru Dronacharya of Padavas and Kauravas. A unique thing can be seen in this temple. Here the Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath is done by nature. This is because water is always dripping from the roof of this temple located in the cave.

Nature performs Jalabhishek of Mahadev

The main Shivalinga in Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple is in a cave. This cave has been given the name of Dronacharya. This is called Drona cave. Water is always dripping from the roof of the cave and nature keeps performing Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Hence its name is Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. It is believed that during the Mahabharata period, milk used to drip on Shivling from the roof of the cave, but after the end of Dwapar Yuga, as the influence of Kalyug increased, the drops of milk turned into water.

Shivalinga had appeared naturally

In the cave of Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple, Dronacharya had performed severe penance for Mahadev to have a child. Hence the name of the cave is Drona Cave. Ashwatthama was also born in this temple. Not only this, on the request of Guru Drona, Lord Shiva was present in the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple in the form of Shivling. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, when Bal Ashwatthama prayed, a stream of milk started flowing in the temple. It is said that the Shivalinga present here had appeared naturally. That means this Shivalinga is not man made.

There are also statues of other gods and goddesses in this temple. Lord Shiva fulfills the wishes of any devotee who prays with a true heart in this Siddha temple. There is a huge crowd in this temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
