What were the allegations of corruption?

This official notice highlights the systemic corruption that had previously plagued the Public Works and Highways Department. According to the document, previous administrations systematically violated rules and paid bribes in public infrastructure projects. It is alleged that persons previously in power, in connivance with their family members and close associates, extorted huge amounts of money from contractors by promising them public works contracts. After taking the money, these powerful people did not allocate projects as promised, leaving many contractors duped and financially ruined.

How and where to complain?

Minister Aadhav Arjun said that his office is already receiving a large number of complaints regarding these past irregularities. To ensure justice, the Ministry has set up direct channels for affected individuals and defrauded contractors to lodge their complaints securely. Aggrieved parties can lodge their complaints directly with the Minister, at the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), or electronically at the dedicated email address: [email protected]. The Minister assured citizens that the identity and details of all complainants will be kept strictly confidential and the government will provide necessary legal protection.

Promise of complete transparency in future

Additionally, the administration has also promised to initiate immediate legal proceedings to help victims recover money lost in past corrupt practices. Looking to the future, the declaration strongly states that there will be no room for such irregularities in the development of the state’s infrastructure. Going forward, all public works and highway contracts will be handled with complete honesty, accountability and complete transparency. (ANI)
